Scent questions, answered

Everything customers ask most about our soy candles, wax melts and car diffusers.

How strong are your scents?

Every candle, wax melt and diffuser is blended for maximum fragrance, so one melt or a short burn is usually enough to scent a whole room.

How long does a candle burn for?

Our wine glass and whiskey tumbler candles give roughly 30–35 hours of burn time. Trim the wick to about 5mm before each burn and keep the first burn going for 2–3 hours so the wax melts evenly to the edge.

How long does one wax melt last?

Around 8–12 hours of fragrance from a single melt, depending on your burner. You can top up with a fresh melt once the scent starts to fade.

How long does a car diffuser last?

Four to six weeks on average. Open the cap a little wider for a stronger throw, or close it down to make it last longer.

What are your candles made from?

Natural soy wax with a satin finish, cotton wicks and a maximum fragrance load. No paraffin, no dyes.

Can I mix and match scents?

Yes. Choose a scent for each item you add to your basket, so a set of three melts can be three different fragrances if you like.

Which scent should I choose?

The scent guide lists every fragrance with its notes, plus a comparison chart by scent family — sweet and gourmand, fresh and clean, fruity, florals and warm and spiced.

Are the perfume-inspired scents the real thing?

No. Scents such as Creed, Sauvage, Black Opium and Daisy are our own interpretations inspired by those fragrances. We are not affiliated with the perfume houses.

Can you make a scent that isn't on the list?

Often, yes. Send it through the request a fragrance page and we'll tell you if we can blend it.

What does delivery cost?

Delivery is free within 10 miles of Romford — just enter your postcode at checkout. Otherwise UK delivery is £3.95, and free on orders over £40.

Can I have melts delivered every month?

Yes — the Monthly Melt Box posts a box of three melts in your chosen fragrance every month for £5 plus delivery. Pause or cancel any time, with no minimum term. See the prices page for the full breakdown.

Are your candles safe around pets and children?

Soy wax and our fragrance oils are gentle, but never leave a burning candle or warmer unattended, and keep both out of reach of children and pets.

How should I store them?

Somewhere cool and out of direct sunlight. Kept that way, candles and melts hold their fragrance for well over a year.

How do I look after a soy candle?

Trim the wick to 5mm before every burn, keep burns between two and four hours, and never burn the last 10mm of wax. Keep the candle away from draughts so it burns evenly rather than tunnelling down one side.

Why has my candle tunnelled, and can I fix it?

Tunnelling happens when early burns are too short. Burn it for three hours so the melt pool reaches the edge of the glass; that usually levels the surface again.

How do I use wax melts in a burner?

Pop one melt in the dish of an electric warmer or a tea light burner. There's no water needed with soy wax — it melts on its own and the fragrance builds within minutes.

How do I get old wax out of my burner?

Warm the burner for a minute, switch it off, and the disc of wax lifts out in one piece once it firms up. Wipe the dish with kitchen roll before adding the next melt.

Can I reuse the wine glass or tumbler when the candle is finished?

Yes — that's half the appeal. Once you reach the last 10mm, pour a little hot water in, let the wax set on top, lift it out and wash the glass as normal.

What is your returns policy in the UK?

Unused, unburnt items can be returned within 14 days of delivery for a full refund — just email us and post them back in their original packaging. Because candles and melts are scented home items, we can't resell them once they've been lit or warmed, so used items can't be returned.

What if my order arrives damaged?

Send us a photo within 48 hours of delivery and we'll replace or refund it straight away, including postage. Glassware occasionally suffers in transit and it's on us, not you.
